Dan Stewart (b. 1995, St. Louis, MO) is a filmmaker and musician based in Chicago, Illinois. Between directing short films and teaching video production at Northwestern University, Dan is also a bartender at a bourbon bar and plays punk shows regularly. While earning his MFA in film and television directing at DePaul University, Dan wrote, directed, and produced his debut feature film Local Band, about the unique and sometimes surreal trials and tribulations of being an independent musician. The film, which uses real musicians, non-actors, and many notable Chicago locations, effuses the DIY punk rock spirit of its characters and its director.
